These apps have been specifically designed to meet prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send and receive messages images, photos, eCards video calls, and money into their prison trust account. In addition to these messaging apps, there are numerous federal inmate apps which text inmate provide additional services like video visits and phone calls.
JPay lets, for instance, friends and family members to transfer money directly to an inmate's trust account, as well as videos, photos, emails, and electronic cards. They can also create personalized postcards with their own images. It's a more secure, more secure alternative to postal mail.
Another popular app for texting inmates is GettingOut. It allows "simple reliable and reliable communication" between inmates with their loved ones. The app is available at select correctional facilities and allows prisoners to upload photos and communicate with family and friends via their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 a message, and loved ones pay for the data used to view their messages (but not for explicit images).
